My Experience with Organic Feminine Hygiene Products

Last month, during my monthly cycle, I decided to try organic feminine hygiene products. Since I’ve turned 30, I’ve noticed my skin change in a weird way. The products that I’ve been accustomed to using such as bath soaps, Laundry detergents, and now feminine products; I can no longer use without experiencing some type of skin irritation.

I didn’t decide initially to purchase these products until after I began seeing my favorite influencers share them on their timeline. While shopping for what I needed during this time of the month, I saw the This is L. brand on the shelf. I purchased the overnight pads, super absorbency tampons, and the super ultra thin pads. All three made from organic cotton. I took a huge risk purchasing the super absorbency tampons. I have always had to use the super plus absorbency tampons because of my menstrual flow. Unfortunately, this is the highest absorbency tampon for this brand.

Surprisingly enough the price point for these products were not pricey. They were actually the same price or a $1 less than the popular brands such as Always and Kotex. I’m here for saving a coin or two, so this also prompted me to purchase these products.

For as long as I can remember, I have been a Kotex girl. I’ve loved the absorbency of both their pads and tampons. No accidents, No issues.

My Experience

I could immediately tell the difference between the organic pads and my regular go-to brand. The feel of the pad was softer against my skin. Both overnight and ultra thin pads came with wings...this was a plus.

The absorbency is completely different. The pads weren’t as drying for me as I would like for them to be.  This was a little uncomfortable at times. The tampons didn’t hold me as well as I wanted them too either. I found myself having to change them a little more frequently than usual. Also the super ultra thin pads were too close to a regular sized pad. It wasn’t long enough for my liking which in turn created a mild accident. The overnight pads were my favorite because I loved how they expanded in the back.

I don’t want to completely discredit these types of feminine products or this brand. I think it’s safe to say that the absorbency is going to be different and was different for me because unlike the pads and tampons that I’m accustomed to using, they not full of fillers and other products. To make them thicker. I know that for the remainder of the products I have left, I will have to use them on lighter days. I know that I will not be purchasing the super ultra thin pads again.

I loved the packaging and brand message. I’m completely here for brands like this! Hopefully I can find an organic brand that works completely and entirely with my menstrual flow without hiccups.
